tYp Student of the Month - December 2013 - Christa Waiser

Q: Where are you from?

A:  Thorndale, tx

Q:  Why did you start practicing yoga?  How often do you practice each week?

A:  I started practicing yoga as just a new thing to try. There was a groupon or something for tYp so a few of my coworkers and I tried to make it our workout routine. Well I was the only one that actually committed to going, and I loved it! I've been practicing at tYp since March of last year, and go about 3-5 times per week.

Q:  Have you noticed any changes in your life since you started regularly practicing yoga?

A:  I have noticed some changes. My core is definitely stronger (by no means strong), I'm more aware of my body, and I feel more active and have more energy when I practice regularly. I can tell that if I take a week or two off I get real lazy and tired, but when I start back up again I feel great!

Q:  What do you like most about attending classes at tYp?

A:  The instructors! I began my journey with Denise woods and then switched to Denise Waling's class, had a few subs in the middle and they're all great! I feel challenged without hating the person challenging me. I also feel guided for the good of my health and body, all of the instructors care about us, and are just great people.

Q:  What are your goals for your yoga practice?

A:  My goal is always to just stick with it. I give up on exercising very easily, and this is the one thing that I actually enjoy that is also good for my health. I'd love to get to the advanced poses and do crazy impressive things, but that would just be for fun. My goal is to be continuously healthy and active in my practice.

Q:  What is your favorite yoga pose and why?

A:  So I never have favorites. No favorite movie, actor, book, nothing. My favorite pose is whatever I need for my body that day. But mostly anything with hips, or binds, or balance.

Q:  What is something you'd like to reveal that people don't know about you?

A:  This is such a difficult question....I don't like hugs. So strange, but I have to be really really close to someone to hug them. I have trouble willingly hugging some of my family members. Weird...
